Role Overview The Assistant Manager – Video Production will lead the planning and execution of video production activities capturing high-quality visual documentation of Bala Vikasa’s programs, events, training sessions, and stakeholder engagements. The role is responsible for translating program activities into compelling visual content by directing field shoots, coordinating production logistics, and ensuring that video footage aligns with the organization’s storytelling and communication objectives. Working closely with the Strategic Communications team and the Multimedia Production unit, the Assistant Manager will guide field videography efforts, manage production schedules, and support the creation of impactful video assets including program documentation, testimonials, event coverage, and campaign videos. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead field video production activities including program documentation, interviews, testimonials, and institutional storytelling. Coordinate and execute video shoots for Bala Vikasa’s development programs, training initiatives, community engagements, and institutional events. Collaborate with the Strategic Communications team to identify storytelling opportunities and translate program impact into compelling visual narratives. Prepare production plans including shoot concepts, shot lists, equipment requirements, and production schedules. Coordinate with program teams to schedule filming activities and secure necessary access and permissions. Direct videography during field shoots, ensuring high standards in framing, lighting, audio capture, and visual composition. Capture interviews with program staff, partners, beneficiaries, and community stakeholders to document program impact. Edit video footage to produce high-quality outputs including program documentation videos, testimonial videos, event highlights, and communication content. Work closely with post-production teams to integrate motion graphics, visual elements, and branding into final video outputs. Support the development of video content for communication campaigns, knowledge products, training materials, and promotional initiatives. Ensure all video content aligns with Bala Vikasa’s brand guidelines, storytelling standards, and communication objectives. Supervise field videography teams or production assistants and ensure efficient execution of production activities. Maintain organized archives of raw footage and ensure timely transfer and management of production files for post-production workflows. Continuously improve field production practices, equipment usage, and production workflows to enhance efficiency and content quality. Candidate Qualification Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Visual Communication, Mass Communication, or a related field. 4–7 years of experience in video production, documentary filming, or multimedia storytelling. Demonstrated experience capturing interviews, documentary-style content, and event coverage. Experience working in development, social impact, education, or institutional environments is desirable. Proven ability to plan and execute video shoots independently in field environments. Skills and Competencies Strong videography and field production skills including camera operation, lighting, and audio recording. Ability to conceptualize and capture visual narratives that communicate program impact. Strong understanding of documentary-style storytelling and interview capture techniques. Familiarity with professional video production equipment and field recording systems. Ability to coordinate logistics and manage production schedules effectively. Strong collaboration skills to work with communications teams, program teams, and production staff. Attention to detail in ensuring high technical and visual quality standards for recorded footage. Ability to work in diverse field environments and adapt production approaches as required.
