Role Summary
The GST Head will be responsible for end-to-end GST compliance, litigation, planning, and process optimization for the organization. The role involves managing GST returns, input tax credit (ITC), reconciliations, audits, and ensuring compliance with evolving GST laws, especially in a trading and import-export environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. GST Compliance & Filings
Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.).
Review outward and inward supplies classification and tax applicability.
Ensure compliance with e-invoicing and e-way bill requirements.
2. Input Tax Credit (ITC) Management
Monitor and optimize ITC utilization.
Perform reconciliation of GSTR-2B with books.
Identify and resolve ITC mismatches and ineligible credits.
3. Reconciliation & Reporting
Monthly reconciliation of GST returns with financial records.
Turnover reconciliation with financial statements.
Prepare MIS reports for management.
4. Litigation & Notices
Handle GST notices, assessments, and departmental audits.
Draft replies and coordinate with consultants/legal teams.
Represent the company before GST authorities where required.
5. Import / Export GST Compliance
Ensure correct GST treatment on imports and exports.
Manage LUT filings and export benefits.
Reconcile ICEGATE data with GST returns.
6. Process Improvement & Controls
Develop SOPs for GST compliance.
Strengthen internal controls to avoid tax risks.
Train internal teams on GST implications.
7. Coordination & Advisory
Work closely with accounts, logistics, and procurement teams.
Provide advisory on GST impact on transactions.
Support business decisions with tax-efficient structuring.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of GST laws and compliance.
Expertise in reconciliations and return filings.
Experience in handling GST audits and litigation.
Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
Qualifications & Experience
CA/ Semi Qualified /Graduation preferred.
6–12+ years of experience in GST domain.
Experience in trading/import-export sector preferred.

Successful handling of notices and audits.
