Job Purpose:
To provide engaging and comprehensive instruction in the arts, nurturing students' creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. The Arts Teacher will support the school’s vision by delivering an internationally-minded and culturally diverse arts curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Learning
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in the arts (visual arts and/or performing arts) following international curriculum standards (e.g., IB, Cambridge, American).
Encourage creativity, experimentation, and appreciation for various art forms, techniques, and cultural influences.
Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
Curriculum Development
Design and implement an inclusive and age-appropriate arts curriculum aligned with school and curriculum guidelines.
Integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities where appropriate (e.g., linking art with history, literature, science).
Update and revise curriculum units and resources regularly to reflect best practices and student interests.
Assessment & Reporting
Develop and use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and progress.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to report cards, parent conferences, and student portfolios.
Classroom & Resource Management
Maintain an organized, inspiring, and safe learning environment.
Manage art materials, equipment, and supplies responsibly and within budget.
Enforce school policies related to student conduct, health, and safety.
Community Engagement & Events
Plan and coordinate student art exhibitions, performances, or showcases.
Contribute to school-wide events, theme days, and cultural celebrations.
Promote student participation in internal and external art competitions or projects.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Work collaboratively with colleagues in interdisciplinary units and school-wide initiatives.
Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training programs.
Stay current with educational research and arts education trends.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Art Education, or a related field
Teaching qualification/certification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., IB Educator Certificate)
2–5 years of relevant teaching experience, ideally in an international or multicultural school
Experience with international curricula (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, Cambridge IGCSE/A Levels, American Common Core/Advanced Placement)

Preferred (Desirable but not required):
Experience with IB Visual Arts, Drama, or Music curricula
Familiarity with arts integration across the curriculum
Ability to teach across multiple disciplines (e.g., visual art + drama or music)
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
Experience organizing student exhibitions or performances
